Troy Lifford was elected to represent Fredericton-Nashwaaksis in the September 27, 2010 provincial election. He has been the Vice Chair of the Standing Committee on Law Amendments, and has been a member of the Standing Committee on Estimates, the Standing Committee on Health Care and the Select Committee on Point Lepreau. Mr. Lifford is the past Chair of the Capital Region Progressive Conservative caucus.He was named Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources November 5, 2010.On October 9, 2012, Mr. Lifford was appointed Minister of Human Resources.
On September 19, 2013, Mr. Lifford was appointed Minister of Justice.He has worked in, and provided consulting services to, the forest industry in Ontario and Eastern Canada, including supervising the largest operation of its kind in North America. He most recently served as the assistant manager of the New Brunswick Federation of Woodlot Owners.Following graduation from Fredericton High School, Mr. Lifford earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of New Brunswick. Mr. Lifford has volunteered with various community groups, including the Fredericton YMCA, Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society, and the Kidney Foundation. For four years he was a member of Park Street Elementary School’s Parent School Support Committee, including a term as committee chair. He has coached in the Douglas Youth Soccer Club for four years.
In 2009 Mr. Lifford chaired the Progressive Conservative Party’s policy development committee responsible for areas of interest related to natural resources, environment, agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries.He and his wife, Janice, live in Nashwaaksis with their four children.
