Mary is the principal of Priestman Street School. She is a life time resident of Fredericton, attending Charlotte Street School, George Street and FHS. She graduated from STU with her BA and Bed, obtained a DAUS Certificate from UNB in Special Education, and her Masters in Communication from the University of Maine, Orono.
Mary began her career in Fredericton working for the Dept of Health as a Speech Language Pathologist for the Fredericton area schools before going to the Oromocto schools. After deciding to return to the classroom rather than continue as a SLP, she taught at Sunbury West School in Fredericton Junction, as well as Lincoln Elementary. In addition to being a classroom teacher and administrator, Mary has been a Literacy lead and literacy mentor in the former District 17. One of her educational interests is to promote the love of literacy with boys. She was awarded an Innovative Learning Grant to pursue this area of interest in 2010.
Mary loves to travel and would like to return to Europe in the near future, especially Italy. Her favourite cities are New York, Berlin and Vancouver. She has one daughter Meaghan who also lives in Fredericton.
